Next to football, volleyball is one of the famous sports worldwide. The terms spike, serve and set are terms that we commonly hear every time we watch a volleyball. This sports needs not just only height, power or agility but also intelligence.
In the Philippines, volleyball is one of the components that completes a sports league like the NCAA and the (University Athletics Association of the Philippines) UAAP. Women's Volleyball in the UAAP is aired on national television because great athleticism shown by the eight universities. In the UAAP history, Far Eastern University leads the women's volleyball showdown with 29 big championships which started from 1947. The teams last title was on 2007 where jersey no. 3 is the most popular and most spoken by volleyball enthusiasts, FEU Lady Tamaraws' Rachelle Ann Daquis.
Recently new squads and new faces flew out to intensify the UAAP Women's Volleyball fever. UAAP WV Season 72 stars namely Aiza Maizo of the UST Tigresses, Fille Cainglet of the Ateneo Lady Eagles, Mervic Mangui of the NU Lady Bulldogs, Cherry Mae Vivas of the FEU Lady Tamaraws, Angela Benting of the Adamson Lady Falcons, Stephanie Mercado and Jaqueline Alarca of the DLSU Lady Spikers.
